It’s been a while since I shared some of my favourite things in the foodie world, so this post sorts that out! I was recently lucky enough to sample the range of Lewis Road Creamery milk. It’s organic and amazing. My other favourites are fruit filled ice cubes and Annabel Langbein’s new book. Read on for more details!
1 Lewis Road Creamery Milk Range.
Lewis Road Creamery have produced something totally original when it comes to NZ milk. They’ve just launched a range of organic Jersey milk, which is the first 100% Jersey milk available on the supermarket shleves. Jersey milk is renowned for it’s rich creamy taste and texture, and this milk is free from permeate. Permeate is a watery, green coloured by product of milk production that’s added back in – sounds gross right? Without it, you get a creamier milk that’s closer to what you’d get from the farm gate.
Nutritionally, Jersey milk has higher levels of calcium, more protein and higher levels of A2 beta casein than milk from Friesen cows (your standard dairy cow in NZ). I can testify that it tastes pretty awesome too.
A 750ml bottle of milk is $3.19. Find your local stockist here
2. Fruity ice cubes
Ice has gone all fancy, and it’s pretty awesome. I’ve been making fruity ice cubes as a way to flash up my water on these hot days. Blueberries, lime, lemon and mint leaves are all perfect additions to your ice cubes, and as they melt they add a yummy flavour to your water. Find out more here.
3. Annabel Langbein’s “A Free Range Life”
Annabel Langbein is one of my favourite cooks. When I was up at mum’s house today, she had her new annual which I flicked through. It’s going on my “to buy” list as it’s full of yummy recipes, food ideas and tips. Plus it’s a bargain! Only $19.99, available at supermarkets, booksellers or online via Annabel’s website.
