They say the eyes are the window to your soul. But if you’ve got dark circles, bags and puffy eyes, sometimes you feel like hiding behind sunglasses rather than have someone gaze into your eyes.
I’ve had quite noticeable bags lately – I thought it was just tiredness, but they just kept hanging around. After some investigations I’ve found that is possible to minimise bags, dark circles and puffiness so your eye area is looking bright and fabulous.
Here’s four tips to banish bags and puffy eyes for good.
1. Stay hydrated
Puffy eyes are often caused by fluid build up under the eye area. The skin around our eye area is thin and delicate and is influenced strongly by our fluid balance.
Drink plenty of water each day to avoid dehydration and fluid retention. Aim for 6-8 glasses of water a day. You can also try herbal teas and warm water with lemon if you get bored with water. Avoid too much coffee which draws water from the body, and alcohol which is also dehydrating.
2. Remember to remove makeup before bed
Eye makeup can irritate your delicate eye area causing puffiness. Cleansers can be too harsh and drying for the eye area, and don’t always remove makeup fully. Use a eye makeup remover, such as Dermalogica Soothing Eye Make-Up remover. It’s oil-free, alcohol-free and water-soluble, and is specially formulated to instantly dissolve all traces of eye and lip makeup. It also contains silk amino acids to help strengthen lashes and condition the delicate area.

3. Use a great eye cream
A specially formulated eye cream can work wonders to reduce puffy eyes and dark circles. Dermalogica Total Eye Care spf15 is one of these. It helps conceal dark circles and contains skin-smoothing alpha hydroxy acids and plant extracts to help reduce the appearance of puffiness and fine lines. It also contains sunscreen to help prevent skin ageing. The good news about this eye cream is it’s part of Dermalogica’s new Skin Savers.
Dermalogica has dropped the prices of its products by an average of 23%. That’s a great saving. The reason behind the price drop is to encourage customers (like you) to buy products from authorised Dermalogica skin centres and websites like this to ensure you get an authentic and safe product as well as expert advice from the skin care experts.

4. A home remedy
One old tried and tested home remedy is to place cool tea bags on the eye area. Dark circles appear because as the skin thins with age, the blood vessels under the eyes become more visible. Tea bags contain caffeine which narrows the blood vessels so they are less visible. Using green tea will also help give your eyes a dose of antioxidants to reduce puffiness. Soak green tea bags for five minutes in hot water. Place in the fridge to cool, then place the teabags over your eyes and relax for 15 minutes. Tea’s caffeine shrinks the vessels so they’re less noticeable; the antioxidants reduce inflammation and puffiness (a.k.a. bags).
