Happy April! Isn’t the year just flying by? The past week I’ve been feeling a little tired and run down so I thought what a better way to kick off the start of April than to start making a conscious effort to keep well and feel energised.
Even though it doesn’t feel like, winter is just around the corner. The cooler months can tend to mean we take care of ourselves less – we don’t stay as active, eat as well or look after ourselves. So, to kick start the second month of Autumn, each day I’ll post something that I’m doing to contribute towards being well, fit and healthy – things that you can incorporate into your daily life as well.
And to celebrate, I’m doing a little give away – I’ve got a Kikki-K Wellbeing Journal worth $49.95 to award to one lucky reader. Wellbeing is about creating balance and taking a more holistic approach towards your mind, body and surroundings. You can use the journal to capture inspiration, jot down observations, set goals and increase your sense of well being, plus there’s inspiration in the journal to help you on your journey.
To be in the draw to win, simply like us on Facebook here, and comment on this post to share your favourite well-being tip. If you want to get our newsletter and emails, send me a message here with and I’ll add you to the list. The prize draw is for NZ residents only, and will be drawn on the last day of April.

Love this! I am feeling really ‘sluggish’ and unhealthy at the moment so I’m there!

I am just planning my food to begin a 7 day Raw food detox. Hope that will kickstart me back into a healthier me! I’ve found a perfect water bottle at Farmers, so much easier to drink loads of water from thru out the day!

Thanks for inspiring a healthy April!
My well-being tip for this month.. switch the unhealthy desserts for fruit! My fav is roasted nectarine halves, cinnamon & blueberries. Before you pop them in the oven add a teaspoon of coconut oil on top (takes 3 mins to prepare!). So easy and so delicious. Serve with plain yoghurt. YUM!

My tip is to always keep a healthy snack such as a few almonds or some dry fruit on you. This stops you grabbing fat/sugar laden snacks while you are out

The journal looks beautiful!
As an office slave, it’s tough to avoid the snacks. But I always make sure I have a good supply of fruit and my rule is that if I want a muesli bar/snack pack of chips/some chocolate, I have to eat a piece of fruit first. Most of the time that gets rid of the craving and I totally forget about the chocolate! Also, cook with coconut oil. It’s delish.

Some good tips above! My healthy eating tip would be when serving dinner to always have half a plate of veges to make sure you get the right portions. We always try to have half a plate of veges, quarter meat, and quarter carbs (if having any). This is an easy way to make sure that you are having the right amounts of the different food groups.

Floss and brush teeth after every main meal to prevent snacking 🙂

Try to make sure breakfast contains protein and veges or fruit aswell as complex carbs – it will set you up to make better food choices for the rest of the day

I always make sure I have healthy snacks on hand ie almonds stashed in my desk at work or an apple in my bag so that I can avoid getting too hungry and devouring everything in sight.

Squeeze a fresh lemon in a cup of hot water each morning for a healthy way to start the day.

I’m finding its getting really cold and much harder to drink my 8 glasses of water a day so I have started drinking warm water with a squeeze of fresh lemon instead. I’ve also devoted 40 minutes to myself 3 days a week so I can go for a run in the great outdoors. Feeling so much more alive!! 🙂
Nicola
Great tips Renee! I also enjoy warm water when it’s cool and I also enjoy running outside – so much more invigorating than a treadmill run
