Boobs. Breasts. Bazookas. Whatever you call them, they’re not something that we often think about in terms of taking care of ourselves, but we need to start. Breast Cream is a new beauty product created by Skinfood in partnership with The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation that aims to make checking your breast part of your regular beauty routine.
Wash, hair, shave legs, check breasts – this new routine could change your life. Applying this moisturiser regularly to your breasts helps you get to know how your breasts look and feel normally, so you can quickly pick up on any changes that could be signs of cancer and see your doctor. There are a number of changes that can indicate breast cancer – it’s more than just a lump. You can read more about being breast aware and what to look for here.
The Skinfood Breast cream is simply a nourishing moisturiser, made with manuka honey, coconut, avocado oil, macademia nut oil as well as mango and cocoa butter. It also smells divine. Inside the box there is a leaflet which explains signs and symptoms to look for, when to have your mammograms and other ways you can reduce your risk of breast cancer.
For me, the release of this new product and campaign has been quite timely. Recently a friend of a friend passed away from breast cancer – she was in her 30’s and had two young children. From then breast cancer has been playing on my mind. It seems to be hitting people earlier and earlier. It’s nice to know that there are a few things you can do to lower your risk. I eat well, keep active, don’t drink a lot of alcohol and the breast cream is something I can add to the list of things I can do to look after myself.
Breast Cream can be purchased from Skinfood here for $11.99 – $2 from every purchase goes to The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. It’s also available at supermarkets and The Warehouse.
