Once upon a time, I was an obsessive weigher. I’d weigh myself at least once a day, and if I didn’t like what I saw it would put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I used to really let those numbers dictate how I felt. Thank goodness those days are long over. Now, I don’t often weigh myself at all. My weight remains stable, and if I go up a little, I’m not overly bothered by it. I just refocus on healthy eating, cutting down on the treats and exercise.
Don’t let how you feel be determined by your weight. You are more than those numbers. Plus those numbers aren’t always a good indication of body fat. They can change up to 2kg a day due to changes in fluid.
Avoid daily weighing – once a week max if you’re aiming to reduce body fat, otherwise monthly or even less. There are better ways at determining your changes – take measurements, or just notice how your clothes are fitting. Rather than obsessing about numbers, focus on being healthy, eating well and keeping active.
